Community Garden Volunteers

    • Community Garden Volunteers may help with:

      • Planting seeds, flowers, fruits, or vegetables

      • Watering plants

      • Pulling weeds

      • Cleaning the garden area

      • Organizing supplies

      • Moving soil, planters, tools, or garden materials

      • Helping with garden events or community activities

      • Reporting anything broken, unsafe, or low in supply

    • Confirm the date, time, and location.

    • Wear clothes that can get dirty.

    • Wear closed-toe shoes.

    • Bring water if you will be outside for a while.

    • Check the weather before coming.

    • Bring gloves if you have them. If not, ask the team lead if gloves will be provided.

    • Let the team know if you have any physical limitations before starting

    • Check in with the team lead.

    • Ask what task you are assigned to.

    • Do not start planting, cutting, moving, or throwing anything away until you are given instructions.

    • Ask where tools and supplies should go after use.

    • Make sure you know which areas are safe to work in.

    • Follow the team lead’s instructions.

    • Use tools safely.

    • Keep walkways clear.

    • Do not leave sharp tools on the ground.

    • Do not waste soil, seeds, water, or supplies.

    • Ask before removing plants.

    • Work carefully around other volunteers.

    • Take breaks if needed, especially in hot weather.

    • Keep the garden area clean and organized.

    • Clean and return tools to the correct place.

    • Throw away trash.

    • Put unused supplies back where they belong.

    • Let the team lead know what was completed.

    • Report any broken tools, low supplies, unsafe areas, or unfinished tasks.

    • Take any personal items with you.

Community Garden Volunteers help Bright Smiles support health outside of the dental chair. This role helps maintain the garden, keep the space clean, support planting projects, and create a welcoming place for community wellness.
